TEMPERATURE FEATURES

tw
is the maximum tolerated temperature on the Ballast winding under constant operation.

Schwabe Hellas Ballasts indicate tw 130 which ensures a life span for more than 10 years under constant operation and under normal operating conditions.

Dt
Dt normal is the increase of the temperature on the Ballast winding under normal operating conditions.

ta
It is useful to estimate the maximum ambient temperature with the Dt and tw values.
The ambient temperature ta is determined with the equation ta = tw – Dt
For example: If tw = 130 and Dt = 55, then ta = tw – Dt = 130 – 55 = 75

therefore the maximum tolerated ambient temperature under normal operating conditions in this case would be 75° C.

Dt abnormal is the increase of the temperature on the Ballast winding under abnormal operating conditions.

Dt cap is the increase of the temperature on the Ballast winding under normal operating conditions with capacitor in series connection (optional).
